Information for People Who Cannot Afford Nursing Care

Kentucky Medicaid rules have changed. There is a limit on the amount of income that a person can have when they receive help from Medicaid for:

  • care in Nursing Home, or
  • care in institutional Hospice, or
  • home care under the community-based waiver services program

If the person's income is more than $2022 per month (2009 amount), they will be told that they are not eligible for Medicaid unless they set up a "Qualifying Income Trust (QIT)" or "Miller Trust".
